Workforce training

Sphinx offers training for your engineering and technical staff. Sphinx principal, Dr. Kwame Awuah-Offei, is an accomplished teacher (with many teaching awards at Missouri University of Science & Technology) who has taught many undergraduate and graduate level courses in mining engineering. These include:

  1. Surface mine design;
  2. Computer-aided mine design;
  3. Geostatistics and ore reserve analysis;
  4. Geostatistics;
  5. Optimization applications in mining;
  6. Simulation of mining systems; and
  7. Environmental aspects of mining

Dr. Awuah-Offei has also taught many short courses to industry professionals. These include courses for Peabody Energy, U. S. Department of Interior’s Office of Surface Mining, Reclamation & Enforcement and Lafarge. He has also co-taught a successful course at the Society of Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration Inc. (SME) Annual Meeting. Sphinx will work with you to customize a course to meet your specific outcomes. We do courses for half day, a day, two days and five days. Some of the short courses he has taught to industry participants are:

  1. Truck-shovel simulation using Arena;
  2. Improving energy efficiency for material handling operations;
  3. Sustainability in mining; and
  4. Geostatistics.
